Dell introduced the Alienware x16 at CES 2023, with Intel Raptor Lake-H and Nvidia RTX 40 Laptop GPU options ranging from the RTX 4070 to the RTX 4090. The Alienware x16 features Dolby Vision displays, an optional CherryMX mechanical keyboard, and vapor chamber cooling for high-end SKUs with RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 graphics cards.
Dell is also introducing a new Alienware x16 laptop alongside the new Alienware m18 and Alienware x14 R2. The Alienware x16 dubbed the “world’s most premium gaming laptop,” features a new Lunar Silver Legend 3.0 chassis that measures 18.57 mm thick and weighs 2.72 kg.
The Alienware x16 is available with three 16-inch displays: QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 165 Hz, QHD+ 240 Hz, and FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 480 Hz. All three panels support Dolby Vision HDR, have a response time of 3 ms, cover the entire DCI-P3 color gamut, and are G-Sync compatible. An FHD IR webcam is also housed on the display for Windows Hello-based logins.
With the Alienware x16, Dell offers several Intel Raptor Lake-H processor options, including the Core i7-13620H, Core i7-13700H, and Core i9-13900HK. These are paired with the most recent Nvidia Ada RTX 40 Laptop GPUs, such as the 140 W RTX 4050 6 GB, 140 W RTX 4060 8 GB, 140 W RTX 4070 8 GB, 175 W RTX 4080 12 GB, and 175 W RTX 4090 16 GB.
For both the CPU and the GPU, all Alienware x16 configurations use the Gallium-Silicone-based Element 31 thermal interface material. According to Dell, vapor chamber cooling is used in RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 configurations. A 12-phase VRM provides consistent power to keep the GPU running at peak performance for extended periods of time.
Buyers can customize it with RAM of up to 32 GB of LPDDR5-6000 (for the Core i9-13900HK variant) and PCIe storage of up to 4 TB.
You can also outfit the device with an Alien X Series keyboard or a CherryMX ultra-low-profile mechanical keyboard, both of which feature per-key AlienFX RGB lighting. Select configurations also include AlienFX effects for the touchpad, which is 15% larger than the Alienware x17 R2’s.
Networking needs are handled by an Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 or AX1690 WLAN card with Bluetooth 5.3. All Alienware x16 models are Dolby Atmos-certified.
